The Bauerfeind MalleoLoc® is an anatomically contoured ankle orthosis designed to provide increased stabilization of the upper and lower ankle following serious twisting injuries, ligament tears, and capsular ligament strains. It helps protect the ankle against lateral twisting and unwanted joint movement while allowing the foot's natural heel-to-toe movement.

Featuring a rigid, anatomically self-shaping shell and a functional strap system, the MalleoLoc® stabilizes the outer edge of the foot and extends beneath the sole while leaving the heel uncovered. This design helps counteract lateral twisting and talar displacement, providing reliable support during early functional treatment and rehabilitation.

A distinctive tongue-shaped protrusion beneath the outer edge of the foot stimulates the surrounding musculature, particularly the tibialis anterior muscle, to support active ankle stabilization and coordination. The orthosis can also be thermoplastically shaped to accommodate individual foot anatomy, making it suitable for chronic ligament weakness and long-term stabilization requirements.

Its low-fatigue cushioning and adjustable strap system provide a secure, comfortable fit. The MalleoLoc® can be worn without a shoe when therapeutically appropriate, allowing flexibility during recovery and rehabilitation.

SIZING & FIT

• Measure the foot or ankle according to the official Bauerfeind MalleoLoc® sizing guide.
• Refer to the product measurement chart to select the appropriate size.
• Position the orthosis along the outer edge of the foot, ensuring the shell sits correctly around the ankle.
• Guide the strap system along the side of the joint and beneath the sole, following the manufacturer's fitting instructions.
• Ensure the heel remains free and the tongue-shaped protrusion is correctly positioned beneath the outer edge of the foot.
• Adjust the straps to achieve a secure fit without excessive pressure or discomfort.
• If anatomical customization is required, have the shell thermoplastically shaped by a qualified professional.
• Confirm that the orthosis supports natural heel-to-toe movement without slipping or causing pressure points.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• Clean the MalleoLoc® separately by hand using a mild, alkali-free cleaning agent.
• Close all Velcro fasteners before cleaning to help preserve their fastening performance and prevent damage.
• Clean the orthosis gently and avoid harsh cleaning agents.
• Allow the orthosis to air-dry naturally.
• Do not expose the orthosis to direct heat, including radiators or direct sunlight.
• Ensure the orthosis is completely dry before wearing it again.
