PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The Bauerfeind AirLoc® is a movement-limiting ankle orthosis designed to stabilize and protect the ankle following acute injuries, ligament damage, or surgery. Worn in combination with a closed shoe, it helps prevent recurring ankle sprains by limiting unwanted lateral movement while supporting a safe return to everyday activities.

Featuring two anatomically contoured plastic shells with extensive internal cushioning, the AirLoc provides firm lateral stabilization and a comfortable fit. The shells are flexibly connected beneath the heel, allowing the orthosis to adapt to the width of the foot. An integrated inflatable air cushion in the outer shell allows the fit to be individually adjusted according to swelling and changing comfort requirements throughout recovery.

The adjustable air cushioning can be inflated using the integrated pump and deflated through the release valve, allowing the level of cushioning to be modified as needed. Two fastening straps secure the orthosis around the ankle and lower leg, while its slim design allows it to fit inside various types of closed shoes. The universal-size design can be worn on either the right or left foot.

SIZING & FIT

• The Bauerfeind AirLoc® is supplied in a universal size and can be worn on either the right or left foot.
• Position the orthosis around the ankle, ensuring the plastic shells sit correctly on either side of the joint.
• Ensure the flexible connection is positioned beneath the heel.
• Secure the two Velcro straps around the ankle and lower leg to achieve a stable, comfortable fit.
• Use the integrated pump to adjust the air cushion according to swelling and comfort requirements.
• Use the release valve to reduce air pressure if the cushioning feels too tight.
• Wear the orthosis with a suitable closed shoe to achieve the intended stabilizing effect.
• Check the fit regularly, particularly as swelling changes during recovery. Avoid excessive tightness or pressure.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• Clean the AirLoc® separately by hand using a mild, alkali-free cleaning agent.
• Close all Velcro fasteners before cleaning to help preserve their fastening performance.
• Clean the orthosis gently and avoid harsh cleaning agents that may damage its materials.
• Allow the orthosis to dry naturally before using it again.
• Avoid excessive heat and follow the manufacturer's care recommendations to preserve the air cushion and fastening components.
