PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The Bauerfeind SofTec® Coxa is a multifunctional hip orthosis designed to provide increased stabilization and controlled guidance of the hip joint following surgery or in conditions requiring protection against hip dislocation. It is commonly used after total hip replacement, revision surgery, femoral head resection, and other procedures where controlled hip movement is essential during recovery.

Its specialized monocentric joint features a single pivot point that allows controlled adjustment of hip abduction, adduction, flexion, and extension. By restricting the hip's range of motion according to individual treatment requirements, the orthosis helps protect the joint from movements that may lead to dislocation.

The SofTec® Coxa combines a stable, individually adjustable pelvic frame with a skin-friendly knitted support system and adjustable thigh straps. The pelvic frame rests securely on the iliac crests, helping maintain proper positioning, while the breathable knitted components provide comfort during extended wear. The orthosis can be adjusted while the patient is lying down and configured for the left hip, right hip, or both hips, depending on clinical requirements.

SIZING & FIT

• Measure the patient according to the official Bauerfeind SofTec® Coxa sizing guide.
• Refer to the product measurement illustration to determine the appropriate size and configuration.
• Position the pelvic frame securely on the pelvis, ensuring that it rests correctly over the iliac crests.
• Align the orthosis joint pivot with the anatomical hip joint as precisely as possible.
• Fit and secure the thigh section using the integrated knitted support and adjustable fastening straps.
• Configure the orthosis for the left hip, right hip, or both hips according to treatment requirements.
• Adjust the permitted range of motion for abduction, adduction, flexion, and extension according to the treating healthcare professional's instructions.
• Ensure the frame and straps provide secure support without excessive pressure.
• Have fitting, joint alignment, and any required disassembly or reassembly performed by a qualified orthotist or orthopedic technician.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• Hand wash the knitted components at 30°C using a mild detergent.
• Clean the pelvic socket and frame components with a sponge and pH-neutral soap or shampoo.
• Never expose the orthosis to direct heat, including radiators or direct sunlight.
• Allow washed knitted components to dry naturally before use.
• Do not disassemble or reassemble the orthosis without appropriate technical assistance.
• Contact a qualified orthopedic technician for necessary dismantling, reassembly, or adjustments.
• Follow the manufacturer's care instructions for additional maintenance requirements.
