PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The Bauerfeind SecuTec® Genu is a lightweight yet robust knee orthosis designed to provide strong external stabilization and controlled limitation of knee joint movement following complex injuries or surgery. It is suitable for conditions such as cruciate ligament ruptures, collateral ligament injuries, meniscal procedures, and patellar fractures requiring additional support during recovery.

Its rigid, anatomically contoured frame combines high-strength lightweight materials with breathable, non-slip padding to provide reliable stabilization, a secure fit, and comfortable wear. The orthosis supports medial and lateral unloading, with varus and valgus adjustment of up to 12°, helping accommodate individual treatment requirements.

The front-opening design allows the orthosis to be positioned and fastened without requiring excessive knee flexion, helping minimize strain on injured ligament structures. Available in frontal and dorsal versions, the SecuTec® Genu offers different fitting configurations to accommodate individual anatomy and clinical needs. A custom-made option is also available.

INDICATIONS

• Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and/or posterior cruciate ligament (PCL)
• Postoperative stabilization following ligament surgery or reconstruction
• Severe or complex knee instability, including traumatic and degenerative instability
• Combined ligament injuries, including the unhappy triad
• Collateral ligament injuries
• Restriction of knee range of motion following meniscal refixation or meniscal implantation
• Patellar fractures requiring non-surgical or postoperative stabilization
• Knee conditions requiring external stabilization and controlled limitation of movement

SIZING & FIT

Measure the leg according to the official Bauerfeind SecuTec® Genu sizing guide.

• Upper leg circumference: Measure 17 cm above the center of the kneecap.
• Lower leg circumference: Measure 15 cm below the center of the kneecap.
• Refer to the official sizing chart and product measurement illustration to determine the appropriate size.
• Position the orthosis according to the selected frontal or dorsal configuration, ensuring that the hinge joints align correctly with the knee joint.
• Fasten the straps securely and evenly to maintain stability without excessive pressure.
• Have the frame adjusted by a qualified orthotist to accommodate individual leg anatomy and treatment requirements.
• Varus/valgus adjustment and range-of-motion settings should be configured according to the treating healthcare professional's instructions.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• Clean the coated aluminum components with pH-neutral soap.
• Hand wash the padding and straps at 30°C.
• Allow the components to dry naturally before reassembling or wearing the orthosis.
• Never expose the orthosis to direct heat, including radiators or direct sunlight.
• Avoid harsh cleaning agents that may damage the frame coating, padding, or fastening components.
• Follow the manufacturer's care instructions for additional maintenance requirements.
