PRODUCT OVERVIEW

The Bauerfeind SecuTec® Genu Flex is an adaptive stabilizing knee orthosis designed to support and protect the knee joint following complex ligament injuries, surgery, and conditions involving significant knee instability. Its semi-flexible rigid frame construction and non-elastic fastening straps provide reliable stabilization based on the four-point principle, helping relieve strain on the ligaments and protect the knee from potentially damaging movements.

The orthosis features an innovative Flex-Link system that allows the upper and lower leg frames to be customized to individual leg anatomy. Flex-Links can be added or removed as treatment progresses, helping maintain a secure fit as the leg circumference changes during rehabilitation. The frame lengths can also be adjusted to two positions for more precise fitting.

Its lightweight, low-profile construction and soft microfiber padding provide comfortable, discreet support during everyday activities. Adjustable hinge joints allow flexion and extension to be restricted independently or the knee to be immobilized, according to the prescribed treatment plan.

INDICATIONS

• Rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and/or posterior cruciate ligament (PCL)
• Postoperative stabilization following ligament surgery or reconstruction
• Severe or complex knee instability, including traumatic and degenerative instability
• Combined ligament injuries, including the unhappy triad
• Collateral ligament injuries
• Functional knee instability
• Restriction of knee range of motion following procedures such as meniscus surgery
• Non-surgical management of ligament injuries
• Long-term rehabilitation following complex knee injuries

SIZING & FIT

Measure the leg according to the official Bauerfeind SecuTec® Genu Flex sizing guide.

• Upper leg circumference: Measure 17 cm above the center of the kneecap.
• Lower leg circumference: Measure 15 cm below the center of the kneecap.
• Refer to the official sizing chart and product measurement illustration to select the appropriate size.
• Position the orthosis so that the hinge joints align with the knee joint.
• Adjust the frame configuration and Flex-Links to achieve a secure, anatomically appropriate fit.
• Secure the non-elastic straps evenly to maintain stability without excessive pressure.
• Have the flexion and extension limits or immobilization settings adjusted according to the treating healthcare professional's instructions.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• Clean the aluminum frame and plastic components with pH-neutral soap.
• Hand wash the padding and straps at 30°C.
• After contact with salt water or chlorinated water, rinse the orthosis thoroughly with clean water.
• Allow washed components to dry naturally before reassembling or wearing the orthosis.
• Avoid harsh cleaning agents and direct heat to help preserve the materials and components.
• Follow the manufacturer's care instructions for any additional cleaning or maintenance requirements.
